Dr. Joanna Stan practices as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. Dr. Stan earned her Bachelors of Social Science from California State University, Chico and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Stan has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapies, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Group Psychotherapy.
Dr. Stan provides Individual psychotherapy to individuals ages 18 and beyond. Her areas of expertise are Borderline Personality Disorder, Women’s Issues, Parenting Children with Special Needs, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and Substance Use disorders. Dr. Stan incorporates theories from Cognitive & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Client-centered Psychotherapy into treatment.
Dr. Stan practices from a client-centered, compassion-based approach and believes all humans are capable of change and improving their lives and relationships. In addition to her professional education and training, Dr. Stan has 21 years in recovery, and understands the challenges associated with recovering from trauma and abuse. She also teaches Interpersonal Skills and Group Psychotherapy to graduate students pursuing their master’s in marriage and family therapy.
